15,000 cyclists battled against the wind and rain this weekend to make the 54-mile journey from London to the South Coast. The route took these cycling enthusiasts through the London capital, and down into the beautiful countryside of Surrey and Sussex, finishing on the seafront in Brighton to the cheers of waiting crowds. No amount of rain could spoil the popular annual event which is now in its 44th year, raising over two million pounds for the British Heart Foundation.

Brighton and Hove gave its usual enthusiastic welcome to the finishers and the city provided a wealth of beachfront cafes and restaurants for cyclists to relax in. In addition to the annual London to Brighton bike ride, Brighton and Hove hosts its own marathon, now in its 9th year, and is home to Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, enjoying their 2nd season in the Premiership this year.

Offering more than just a day at the seaside, this vibrant city attracts growing numbers of visitors every year with a colourful programme of all year round events and festivals. Nestled between the sea and the countryside, the city of Brighton and Hove offers a perfect mix of colourful city life with the quiet and tranquillity of the beautiful Sussex countryside.
