University of North Alabama
About the school
Did you know there is a city called Florence in the USA? You can find this beautiful and historic city in Alabama (in the southeastern part of America), on the Tennessee River.
The University of North Alabama (UNA) was established in 1830, which makes it Alabama’s oldest public 4-year university. Spread across a stunning 130-acre campus, on the banks of the Tennessee River, it is also the largest university in north Alabama. You can choose from over 140 programs here, including the English as a Second Language (ESL) and online Academic English Program (AEP).
Both ESL (in-class) and AEP (online) will help you to bring your English to the required level allowing you to then transition smoothly into academic studies. As an ESL student, you will have access to all of the university facilities and services, including the library, residence halls, dining facilities, medical help, the recreation center as well as sporting and cultural events.
Accommodation at UNA is also pretty amazing. The university offers on-campus accommodation in various residence halls and apartments – perfect for meeting new people and making friends from all around the world.
You will also have the opportunity to practice English during Conversation Partners meetings, which take place twice a week and are attended by not only ESL but also American students. In addition, there are culture days arranged monthly which are the perfect way to put your newly gained English skills to use and learn a bit more about the American culture and way of life.
