IELTS Pathway course at IH Newcastle
It is great when a language school works hard to create a course that students need rather than just replicating what every other school offers. IH Newcastle in the north of England found some students with low-level English skills who still wanted to try an English Examination. One of the most famous is IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) and so they created the ‘IELTS Pathway’.
The course is designed for students who want to take an IELTS exam but whose English level is low. IH Newcastle believe a good foundation in General English is important for IELTS, and if you want to go to university. Exam strategy and exam practice are really important, but you will need English skills.
The IELTS Pathway, therefore, combines 4-hours of group General English classes with 1-hour a day of small group IELTS preparation. This helps students to become familiar with the exam and explores the strategies to help get a good grade or to move on to more advanced IELTS classes. Students can also take a full IELTS test every 6 weeks, followed by a tutorial with a dedicated Pathway tutor to track progress and diagnose which parts of the test need more attention.
Here is what a recent student said about the IELTS Pathway:
‘Hello, I’m Hisham Arif I’m from Saudi Arabia. I came to Newcastle upon Tyne to study my bachelor. I started studying English at International House for 5 months and it was amazing, I came with very bad English and I really developed a lot in a short time. In IELTS pathway it’s really useful and improved my skills a lot especially in writing. Now I did my exam and got enough progress to start at university’.
Arif found the course really helped to achieve his dream of a course at University. So why not take a look at IH Newcastle.
