Flywire’s expert tips for renting student housing in the USA
Together with their partners LoftSmart, international payments experts Flywire have put together some valuable finance tips for international students renting accommodation in the USA.
The rental process can be a daunting one for international students. This is not just because of the language barrier, but also because American procedures can be difficult, confusing and simply not set up for foreign renters.
Flywire and LoftSmart have condensed their financial advice into four key tips, to ensure you can rent the accommodation of your choice, and that your home-away-from-home is as happy as possible.
Tip 1: If you can’t find a guarantor and can afford to pay a little extra up-front, you can usually pay a higher deposit instead.
Tip 2: If you are receiving assistance with the cost of your accommodation, remember to bring proof or you may run into difficulties.
Tip 3: Otherwise, proof of income from your parents is the easiest way to secure your rental, particularly for international students, as proof from any country is usually accepted.
Tip 4: If all else fails, you can use a US guarantor service. You will need to pay for this, but it’s a simple and reliable way of making sure you get the accommodation of your dreams.
